Massachusetts women's tennis standouts Julia Comas and Gabriella Jannotta were recently named Division I Scholar-Athletes by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Comas had a stellar season for the Minutewomen, notching 21 overall singles wins to go along with a 15-8 dual match record from the #3 and #4 spots. She will serve as a tri-captain next season. The second-team all-conference performer was also named to the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Jannotta was part of a Minutewomen squad that went 16-8 and advanced to the finals of the A-10 Championship. In May she graduated with a degree in architecture.

The duo were among 40 female student-athletes from fellow A-10 institutions to be recognized.

For a student-athlete to be eligible for the ITA Scholar Athlete status, they must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
