Judy Dixon Named A-10 Women's Tennis Coach Of The Year

AMHERST, Mass. - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its' yearly awards Thursday afternoon, with UMass head coach Judy Dixon capturing the A-10 Women's Tennis Coach of the Year honors. Dixon led the Minutewomen to a 16-8 overall record (7-2 A-10) and the top overall seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament where they took home second place. The 16 wins are the most since UMass posted 17 wins during the 2004-05 season that also saw the Minutewomen take second place in the conference. It marks the fourth time in Dixon's career where she has won the award.
Also receiving conference accolades were Sonia Bokhari, Julia Comas and Yuliana Motyl. Bokhari received First Team All-Conference honors in recognition of her stellar first season at UMass. The Louisville transfer finished the year on a ten-match singles winning streak, posting an overall singles record of 19-12 and a 15-7 dual match record. Bokhari went undefeated in all of her conference matches throughout the season and during the A-10 tournament. Bokhari also added 13 dual match doubles wins from various pairings.
Both Comas and Motyl received Second Team All-Conference honors for their performances this season. Comas posted an overall singles record of 21-14 and a dual match record of 15-8. Comas played at the No. 3 and No. 4 singles slots for UMass this season.
Motyl was undefeated in conference matches and in the A-10 tournament at No. 1 doubles alongside Chantal Swiszcz. She posted five wins from No. 1 singles this season and three from the No. 2 spot. Motyl was also named the A-10 Women's Tennis Performer of the Week on one occasion this season.
