Fifth-Seeded Tennis To Face 12th-Seeded Dayton On Thursday Morning

AMHERST, Mass. - After compiling an 11-8 overall mark this season, the UMass tennis team earned the No. 5 seed in this week's Atlantic 10 Championship which will be held at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. The event begins on Thursday with the Championship match to be played on Sunday morning.
UMass will open the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championships against No. 12 seed Dayton on Thursday, April 24 at 9 AM. The winner of the match will then face the winner of the No. 4 seed Richmond/No. 13 seed La Salle match on Friday, April 25 at 10 AM.
The Minutewomen finished the last two springs as the Atlantic 10 semifinalists in 2013 and as the Atlantic 10 runner-ups in 2012. UMass closed out the spring season this year winning six of its last seven matches including a pair against Saint Joseph's and Rhode Island.
Overall, VCU was the No. 1 seed in the Championship as the Rams are the defending A-10 Champions. Saint Louis is the No. 2 seed, while George Washington is the No. 3 seed.
Admission to the stadium, which is also used for the ATP Tour's Western & Southern Open, will be free for the A-10 Championship.
The semifinals will be played Saturday at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm and the championship final is Sunday at 10:00 am. The winner of the 2014 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
