Tennis Returns Home To Host A-10 Rival Temple

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass tennis team return home after a four-match road trip to host Atlantic 10 rival Temple on Saturday afternoon (12:30 PM) at the Bay Road Tennis Center. The Minutewomen enter this weekend at a 10-5 record including 4-0 at home and 4-1 in conference play.

UMass is coming off a tough 6-1 loss to the Terriers of Boston University. Arielle Griffin won the lone match for UMass playing in the number four singles. After losing the first set 0-6, Griffin fought back and won the second and third set 6-3 and 6-2. On the year the freshman is 9-3 in singles play, including 6-1 when in the number four spot.

Yuliana Motyl and Chantal Swiszcz still lead the Minutewomen in doubles play despite a two-match losing streak. The duo owns a 12-3 record when playing in the number one doubles spot. As a team UMass as been dominant in doubles matches holding a record of 34-11 for a winning percentage of .756.

Temple travles to UMass with a 5-11 record and a 2-5 record in conference play. The Owls are coming off two conference losses to Fordham (3-4) and George Washington (2-5). In conference play Temple comes in at 20-19 in singles matches and 9-8 in doubles.

Following the match the Minutewomen travel to the Ocean State to take on the University of Rhode Island on Wednesday April 10 and Bryant University on Saturday April 13.
