Tennis Wraps Up Road Swing At Boston University
March 29, 2013
AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass tennis team concludes its four-game road stint Friday, March 29 when the Minutewomen travel to Boston University for a 3 PM match. The Minutewomen go into the match against the Terriers with a 10-4 record and playing an even .500 on the road at 4-4. This will be the first competition for UMass in nearly two-weeks as the March 24 match with LIU Brooklyn was cancelled.
UMass' last match was a tough 7-0 loss at Boston College. The Eagles became the first team this season to win the doubles competition against the Minutewomen.
Despite the loss to the Eagles, No. 1 doubles pair Chantal Swiszcz and Yuliana Motyl are an impressive 12-2 on the year. As a team the Minutewomen are 34-8 in doubles play and 52-31 in singles play. Jessica Podlofsky leads UMass with 10 wins.
The Terriers sit at 6-5 on the season with a home match against Albany still to play. Boston University is currently undefeated at home winning matches against St. John's, Cleveland State and Binghamton. Senior Vivian Laszloffy, last week's America East Player of the Week, leads BU in singles play at 7-3 and is currently riding a three-match win streak.
Following the match-up against the Terriers, UMass will head home for two against Albany and Atlantic 10 foe Temple.
