Podlofsky Named A-10 Tennis Performer Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - After picking up a pair of singles wins and a pair of doubles wins during the UMass tennis team's sweep of Fordham and Binghamton, junior Jessica Podlofsky has been named the Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday night. Podlofsky improved to 10-1 this year in singles play and is now 8-2 alongside doubles partner Arielle Griffin.
The Minutewomen will return to action on Friday at Xavier (7 PM) and Saturday at Dayton (3 PM). UMass enters the weekend with a 9-2 overall record and a 3-0 mark against conference teams.
Against Fordham last Saturday, Podlofsky earned a straight set No. 4 singles win against Bella Genkina (6-4, 6-2). In the win over Binghamton, she played No. 3 singles with a 7-6, 6-0 straight set win over Alexis Tashiro.
In doubles action, she paired with Griffin for wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.
Podlofsky is now tied with Julia Comas as the active career wins leader with 56 in her three years at UMass.
