UMass Tennis Is Set For It's First Home Match Of The Spring Season
Feb. 23, 2008
AMHERST, Mass. - After a slight delay, the UMass women's tennis team is set to take on the Army Black Knights on February 24 at 12 p.m. The match will take place at the Hampshire College indoor courts. The first home match of the year, set to be against Boston College on February 1, was delayed due to the weather. Since that match, the Minutewomen have gone 2-4 on the road with wins coming against Binghamton and conference for Fordham. This is the 13th match-up between the two schools with the series beginning in 1994. UMass holds a 3-9 record against Army with their last win coming last year in West Point, N.Y. The Minutewomen matched up against some of the Army players at the Eastern Collegiate Invitational in the fall. At that tournament, doubles team of Masha Pozar and Candynce Boney won the No. 1 doubles tournament and Pozar placed second overall in singles matches. Last year, the Minutewomen met up with Army twice, once in the fall at the Eastern Collegiate Invitational and against at West Point, where they used four singles wins to edge the Black Knights and go undefeated on their weekend road trip.
