CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Three University of Massachusetts women's tennis players competed in the ITA Regional Championships this weekend. In the final tournament of the fall season, the Minutewomen saw early success before falling in the Round of 16 and the quarterfinals.

Playing in the singles tournament, sophomore Stephanie Price (Columbia, Mo.) won her Round of 32 match against Catlin Link of Rutgers, 6-1, 6-0 on Friday. The victory allowed Price to advance to the Round of 16, where she lost a close match to Rachel Williams of Brown. After capturing the first set of the match, Price fell to Williams 5-7, 6-3, 6-1.

In the doubles tournamemt, UMass' team of Sasha Edelstein (Haifa, Israel) and Susan Hyams (Cincinatti, Ohio) used their early round success to advance to the quarterfinals. In their first match Edelstein and Hyams earned a solid victory over Ann Scott and Evelyn Stevens of Dartmouth, winning 8-3. In their quarterfinal match the UMass team took on Daniela Kaluskova and Wei-Ming Leong of Syracuse, who defeated the Minutewomen, 8-3.

The ITA Tournament will conclude on Oct.29, ending Massachusetts' fall portion of its schedule. UMass will return to action on Feb. 8 against Harvard.
