AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts women's tennis team earned its third straight victory Tuesday, as the Minutewomen defeated Williams College 5-2, to improve their record to 3-0 for the fall season.

In the doubles matches, the Massachusetts went undefeated, sweeping all three matches to earn the doubles point. Junior Stephanie Price (Columbia, Mo.) and senior Jenny Munroe (Valencia, Calif.) took the #1 doubles match by a score of 8-4, over Steph Hall and Kate Troy. In the #2 slot, sophomore Dorothy Iwanowicz (Weymouth, Mass.) and freshman Christine Liehr (Stuttgard, Germany) put down the team of Courtney Bartlett and Julie Mallory, 8-2. The #3 team of senior Susan Hyams (Pocatello, Idaho) and junior Sasha Edelstein (Haifa, Israel) completed the sweep, defeating Alex Maclennan and Lauren Ayers, 8-1.

In singles action, Munroe won a hard-earned point for the Minutewomen in the #1 match, beating Hall in three sets, (6-2, 2-6, 6-2). In the #2 spot, Price won her first singles match of the year, defeating Mallory in straight sets, (6-2, 6-2). Massachusetts took another point from the #5 match, as Iwanowicz put down Bartlett, (7-6, 6-2). Finally, sophomore Jana Bartoloni (Charlestown, Mass.) easily defeated Ayers from the #6 slot, (6-0, 6-1).

Williams managed to collect two points in the match, the first of which came from the #3 match. Liehr could not finish her match with Maclennan due to injury, and forfeited. The other point came out of the #4 spot, as Edelstein fell to Troy, (3-6, 4-6).

The Minutewomen will be in action next on Friday, Oct. 24, as Head Coach Judy Dixon leads her squad to Blacksburg, Va., to compete in the ITA Regional Championships.
