Sasha Edelstein and Stephanie Price Of Women's Tennis Advance At Eastern Tennis Championship

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Sophomores Sasha Edelstein (Haifa, Israel) and Stephanie Price (Columbia, Mo.) will both compete for the No. 1 and 2 singles championships after winning their respective semifinal matches in day two of action at the Eastern Collegiate Tennis Championship today on the campus of the United States Military Academy.
In No. 1 singles, Edelstein, the flights No. 2 seed, will meet Niagara's Milena Matijevic in tomorrow's championship match. Today, she knocked off sixth-seeded Whitney Simcik of UConn, 6-4; 6-4.
Price, the No. 2 seed in the second flight, will face top-seeded Anna Marie Underwood of West Virginia in tomorrow's championship. This afternoon, Price beat Maria Anorga of Lehigh in the quarterfinals, 6-0; retired and then swept Providence's Cheri Lapane in straight sets, 6-1; 6-2.
Junior Susan Hyams (Cincinnati, Ohio) lost to top-seeded Carissa Sommerlad of Rutgers, 2-6; 3-6, in the semifinal round of the fourth singles flight.
The third-seeded tandem of freshmen Jana Bartoloni (Charlestown, Mass.) and Chelsea Gray (Madison, Maine) lost to second-seeded Helen Magomedova and Alina Balasa of Rutgers, 4-8 in the semifinal round of the No. 1 doubles flight.
The tournament concludes Sunday, Sept. 15. The championship matches will begin at 9:00 a.m.
