Tennis Falls To Richmond In Hard-Fought Championship Match, 4-3

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The #1 seeded UMass women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought, 4-3 decision to the #3 seeded Richmond Spiders in Sunday's Atlantic 10 Championship Final. UMass finishes its season at 16-8 (7-2, A-10) while Richmond captures its fourth straight Atlantic 10 Title.
The Minutewomen began the match by capturing the doubles point for the third consecutive time in this year's tournament. Yuliana Motyl and Chantal Swiszcz grabbed an 8-3 win from the first doubles spot to stay perfect in their three total tournament matches. Hazuki Onaga and Jessica Podlofsky followed things up with their own 8-6 victory. The win came after the duo lost their first two matches of the tournament.
Sonia Bokhari continued her torrid pace by winning her 10th straight match, this time from No. 2 singles. Bokhari defeated Helen Cunningham in straight sets 7-5, 6-1.
Chanel Glasper also kept things going by defeating Nil Horoz from No. 6 singles in three sets. The win marked her 11th in a row and 28th overall on the season.
