COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The fourth-seeded University of Massachusetts women's tennis team fell to No. 2 Temple, 4-1, in the finals of the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship at The Tennis Center at College Park, Md., on Saturday.

The loss in the championship earned UMass a second-place finish in the tournament and gave Temple its third conference title, the first since 1995.

Temple defeated Massachusetts at No. 1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 singles to earn its four points for the match. Freshman Dorothy Iwanowicz (Hilton Head, S.C.) posted the lone victory for the Minutewomen at No. 5 singles.

In Saturday's third-place match, defending champion Richmond topped No. 1 Xavier, 4-1, and in the fifth-place match No. 5 George Washington defeated No. 8 Dayton, 4-1.
