BOSTON - Boston University won five of six singles matches and swept doubles play as the Terriers defeated the UMass tennis team 6-1 on Friday afternoon at the BU Track & Tennis Center. Arielle Griffin won the lone singles match for UMass in come-from-behind fashion winning the second and third sets for the point after losing the first set.

The Minutewomen will return to action next Wednesday (3 PM) against Albany at the Mullins Center Tennis Courts.

The Terriers won all three doubles matches by 8-1 scores marking just the second time this season that UMass has lost the doubles point.

Boston University then won each of the first three singles matches in straight sets until Griffin was able to pick up a point for the Minutewomen.

After falling to Leonie-Charlotte Athanasiadis 6-0 in the first set, Griffin fought back to win the second and tie-breaker sets 6-3, 6-2.

With the match in hand, BU went on to win the fifth and sixth singles matches in straight sets to close out the day.

The loss marked the second straight for UMass dropping the Minutewomen to 10-5 overall. It was also the first match for UMass in two weeks after being off for Spring Break and then having its competition against Long Island University cancelled.
