Tennis Blanks Rhode Island, 7-0

AMHERST, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts women's tennis team (11-6, 3-0 A-10) won every set as it took its third-consectuitve Atlantic 10 victory, 7-0, over the University of Rhode Island (3-8, 0-2 A-10), this afternoon at the Upper Boyden Courts. Junior Susan Johnson (Arnold, Md.) teamed up with junior Dorothy Iwanowicz (Hilton Head, S.C.) to take the No. 1 doubles match, 8-1. Junior Jana Bartoloni (Quincy, Mass.) and senior Sasha Edelstein (Haifa, Israel) took down their opponent at the No. 2 spot, 8-1, while freshman Kristin DiPiero (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) and junior Lesley Fisher (Shrewsbury, Mass.) won in the No. 3 slot, 8-2. In singles competition, freshman Masha Pozar (Ljublijana, Slovenia) won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 1 spot. Edelstein handled her opponent at No. 2, defeating her, 6-0, 6-1. Iwanowicz competed at the No. 3 slot, winning 6-1, 6-0. Johnson, Bartoloni, and DiPiero all won their singles matches at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6, respectively. The Minutewomen are back in action when they host Fordham on Wednesday, April 6 at 3:00 PM at the Upper Boyden Courts. Singles: Doubles:
