Women's Tennis Falls To Dartmouth 4-3

HANOVER, N.H. - The University of Massachusetts women's tennis team (3-3) fell to Dartmouth on Friday evening by a score of 4-3. The Minutewomen came out strong taking the doubles point. They followed that by taking Nos. 1 and 3 singles, but it wasn't enough. The Minutewomen head home for their A-10 opener on Sunday. They host rival Fordham at noon at the Bay Road Tennis Club on the campus of Hampshire College.
Head Coach Judy Dixon decided to shake things up in the doubles lineup. Masha Pozar and Maude Lecluyse, playing No. 1 for the first time, defeated Meg Zebroski and Mary Beth Winingham, 8-5. Michele Spiess and Ellen de Jong defeated Kerry Snow and Lindsay Winingham by the same score. Junior Kristin DiPiero got into her first match of the spring. She and Laura Murillo fell at No. 3.
The Minutewomen are right back in action on Sunday, hosting the Fordham Rams. The match is scheduled to start at noon and will be held on the campus of Hampshire College. Check back to www.umassathletics.com for a complete recap of the A-10 opener.
