AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts women's tennis team (4-2, 1-0 A-10) fell at Brown yesterday afternoon, 6-1. Sophomore Dorothy Iwanowicz (Hilton Head, S.C.) was the only point-scorer for the Minutewomen, as she kept her undefeated spring singles record of 3-0 intact. Co-captains senior Susan Hyams (Cincinnati, Ohio) and junior Sasha Edelstein (Haifa, Israel) won their doubles match, also preserving their undefeated spring doubles record of 3-0.

Brown, #65 in the country, overpowered the Minutewomen from the start, as they took the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches. Senior Jenny Munroe (Valencia, Calif.) and junior Stephanie Price (Columbia, Mo.) fell in the #1 slot, 8-3, while freshman Christine Liehr and Iwanowicz dropped the #2 match, 8-6. Hyams and Edelstein took the #3 doubles match, 8-5.

Brown then went on to win all but one singles match. Munroe fell at #1 singles, 6-7, 6-0, 1-0, Edelstein dropped the #2 singles 6-2, 6-3 and Liehr lost at the #3 slot, 6-4, 6-1. Iwanowicz then took the only win for the Minutewomen, 6-2, 6-2 at the fourth spot. Sophomore Jana Bartoloni (Charlestown, Mass.) then fell 6-1, 6-1, while Hyams at #6 lost 4-6, 6-2, 6-0.

The Minutewomen will be bqack in action on Wednesday, Feb. 25, as they travel to Hanover, N.H., for a 4:00 p.m. match with Dartmouth.
