Feb. 16, 2013
WEST POINT, N.Y. - A pair of wins in doubles play along with solid depth in the singles line-up proved the difference on Friday afternoon as the UMass tennis team took a hard fought 4-3 win over Army on Friday afternoon at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center. The Minutewomen won the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, while in singles action, it was a strong middle part of the line-up which proved the difference. UMass earned wins at the No. 3-5 positions to seal its fourth dual match win of the year. Yuliana Motyl and Chantal Swiszcz paired up to win the No. 1 doubles (8-2), while Jessica Podlofsky and Arielle Griffin teamed to win the No. 3 match (8-6). The Black Knights won the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches. Sonia Bokhari won her first set in No. 1 play, but Army's Erin Colton rallied back winning the second set and the tie-breaker set.
