The UMass tennis team starts the 2013 spring campaign this Friday at Brown and Sunday at home against Saint Joseph's. Head coach Judy Dixon sits down with UMassAthletics to talk about the progress from the fall and what she expects to see this spring.
Spring:: The spring season began for Griffin against Cornell, where she lost in doubles with partner Laura Moreno (1/23) ... The duo played a hard match against Boston College in the start of February where they lost playing in the No.3 spot (2/2) ... During the match against Long Island, Griffin won her singles match in straight sets and also won in doubles (2/6) ... Against St. John's, Griffin went on to win her singles match with a score of 7-5, 6-4 (2/7) ... The following week against Army West Point, the senior lost a hard three-setter in singles (2/13) ... On the same day against St. Bonventure, Griffin won her doubles match playing with Moreno (2/13) ... Against Yale the following week, the senior lost a hard match playing in the #3 doubles spot (2/19) ... During the same weekend against the #41 seed Dartmouth, Griffin and Moreno were defeated in a really tough match (2/21) ... At the first match of March against Albany, the senior won in doubles with a score of 6-4 (3/5) ... In the first match of the weekend opener against the College of Charleston, Griffin lost a long three-setter in singles but went on to win in doubles (3/15) ... Against Charleston Southern, the senior won a close doubles match as well as a singles match in three sets (3/18) ... In her first match of April against Quinnipiac, the senior won her doubles match playing with partner Moreno (4/8) ... On the following day against Bryant, Griffin won both her doubles and singles matches (4/9). Fall: Griffin began her season with two singles losses and one win at the Brown Invitationals (9/25) ... At the Invitationals she played doubles with Laura Moreno and they won and lost one match each (9/25) ... Against Connecticut, the senior lost her singles match but won the doubles match with teammate Moreno with a score of 8-5 (10/1) ... Griffin played doubles with Moreno against Providence and won (10/15) ... Won against both Minnesota and Dartmouth in singles in straight sets (11/7).

As A Sophomore (2013-14): Finished her sophomore year 12-11 overall in singles play and improved her career singles record to 32-17 over two seasons ... Clinched 10 victories in dual matches and won all four Atlantic 10 singles matches that she faced this season ... In doubles play, Griffin wrapped up the season 8-12 overall and 2-2 in the A-10 ... When paired alongside Aarzoo Malik, the tandem won five-of-eight matches, four of which were realized at the No. 2 spot. Spring: Griffin had her hand in post-season tournament play where she inked a 5-4 No. 2 doubles win in the first round of the A-10 Championships (4/24) ... Closed out her regular season conference matches with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Rhode Island in No. 4 singles while also blanking the Rams 8-0 in No. 2 doubles (4/19) ... Defeated Saint Joseph's, Mulquin, 6-3, 6-4 at home after claiming an 8-1 No. 2 doubles victory alongside Malik (4/4) ... Captured a come-from-behind victory in No. 3 singles against Quinnipiac, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 (4/3) ... Took home the first A-10 win against Fordham with a 7-6, 6-4 showing in No. 4 singles (2/28) ...
