Butler, UMass Earn Top Academic Honors From CSCAA

AMHERST, Mass. - Massachusetts diver Michaela Butler and the Mintewomen swimming & diving team were each recognized by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America for their outstanding academic performance this past season.
UMass was one of just under 150 Division I women's swimming and diving teams honored for having a team GPA over 3.0. Head coach Bob Newcomb and diving coach Mandy Hixon's squad posted a 3.40 team GPA this past season, up from last year's 3.15 effort.
The Minutewomen have earned the honor three of the last five years and seven times since 2002.
Butler was named a Scholar All-America for the second-consecutive season. The Cape Cod native graduated with a 3.614 grade-point average while earning a degree in kinesiology and a minor in psychology.
A total of seven Atlantic 10 schools were among those with a 3.0 team GPA or better: Duquesne, Fordham, George Washington, La Salle, UMass, Rhode Island and Richmond.
