Michaela Butler Takes Eleventh And Twelfth At NCAA Zone A Championship

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass diver Michaela Butler placed eleventh in the three-meter dive and twelfth in the one-meter dive in the NCAA Zone A Diving Championship hosted by the University of Buffalo this past weekend. In the three-meter dive she finished with a score of 534.60, while scoring 479.85 in the one-meter dive.
In the three-meter dive, with a field of 39 divers, Butler scored a 280.85, securing her spot in the top-18 final session. In the final of the three-meter she scored 253.75 giving her a total of 534.60. Danielle Cecco of Connecticut won the event with a total of 643.05.
In a field of 44 divers in the one-meter dive, Butler took a scored of 248.85 in the prelims putting her in the top-18, and qualifying her for the final session. In the finals she finished with a score of 231.00, giving her a total of 479.85. Kaylea Arnett of Virginia Tech won the event with a total score of 585.00.
This is the first time the Dennisport, Mass. native has competed in the Zone Championships in her career. Butler caps off a phenomenal season, in which she was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Most Outstanding Diver and won gold medals in both diving events.
