Men And Women Swim Head To Darmouth Invite

AMHERST, Mass. - The men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be heading to White River Valley, Vt. this weekend for the Dartmouth Invitational. The meet will take place over two days starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, and concluding Saturday. The teams will be competing against Dartmouth College and Bryant University. Both teams are just coming off competition against the Bryant Bulldogs where the men were victorious 153-88, while the women just fell 123.5-119.5.
Last Week Against The Bulldogs
The 200 medley relay team of Hao Luong, Timothy Gladyshev, John Conway and Erik Pfhol claimed first with a time of 1:36.65. The 200 free relay team of Timmy O'Neill, Colin Mulcahy, Eric Zeimetz and Peter Sacco took first with a time of 1:25.83. Sacco would also go on to win both the 50-yard breaststroke and the 50-yard freestyle with times of 27.17 and 21.66, respectively. The other Minuteman to win two individual events was Chris Inglis in both the 100-yard freestyle (47.49) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.02).
The Minutewomen lost a close one, coming down to the last relay, but they had an overall great showing against Bryant.
The Minutewomen finished with four individual first-place finishes, two of which coming from freshman Zoe Judd. Judd claimed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.26. She also took first in the 100-yard butterfly touching the wall 59.49, ahead of teammates Kaitlyn McKenna in second (1:01.06) and Tarryn Teresak in third (1:01.38).
Sarah Kanellas took the top spot in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 27.45. Chelsea Downing won the 100-yard IM finishing with a time of 1:01.16. She also took second in both the 500-yard freestyle (5:16.23) and the 50-yard breaststroke (30.69).
Last Year At The Dartmouth Invite
Last season at the Dartmouth Invitational the Minutemen were able to capture first place tallying a total of 1083 points beating Dartmouth, Boston College, Bryant and Maine. The women grabbed second place with 835 points, finishing behind host Dartmouth and beating Boston College, Bryant and Maine.
