UMass Returns To The Pool Against URI, GW

AMHERST, Mass. - Following more than a month off from competition and the annual training trip to Puerto Rico, the Massachusetts swimming and diving teams will open the 2014 portion of their season at the Rhode Island Invitational this weekend.

The two-day meet at the Tootell Aquatics Center will begin on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The women's team will compete at against Atlantic 10 Conference foes George Washington and Rhode Island, while the men's squad will face GW and the Rams' men's club team.

The Minutewomen currently hold four top times, both high marks in the 1- and 3-meter diving events and one relay in the league after the first semester.

On the men's side, 14 Minutemen appear in the top eight times and scores at the midway point of the season.
