AMHERST, Mass. -- The UMass men's and women's swim teams concluded the Nutmeg Invitational on Sunday at Yale University with a total of six first place finishes. Massachusetts added three second place finishes and three third place finishes to their honors on the third day of competition on Sunday.

Senior Tommy Keane (Melrose, Mass.) placed second in the 1650-yard freestyle (16:07.25) for the Minutemen. Rob Bellamy (Columbia, Md.) concluded a successful weekend by adding a third place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (47.19). In the first two days of the meet Bellamy tallied first place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle,and was a member of the winning 800-yard freestyle relay team as well. On Sunday Bellamy also earned earned second place honors in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Along with Ryan Zaucha (Auburn, Calif.), Chad Arnold (Mohnton, Pa.) and Matt Woodfield (Naugatock, Conn.), the team finished in 3:09.34 for second place honors.

Also performing well for the Minutemen was sophomore Matt Woodward (Waterboro, Maine), who finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke.

The Minutewomen were led by junior Christen Dexter (Centerville, Mass.) and sophomore Colleen Wasson (Harleysville, Pa.). Dexter finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:24.39 while Wasson finished right behind her in third place at 2:26.51.

Both the men's and women's teams will next compete on Jan. 4 at the Sacred Heart Invitational in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
