STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The UMass men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept Stony Brook in the Seawolves home opener on Saturday afternoon. UMass dominated the men's component with a score of 148-87 breaking two pool records. On the women's side, it was UMass 136, Stony Brook 103.

The Seawolves swept the men's and women's 400 freestyle relay, finishing in the top three spots in both races. Rebecca Porteus, Kristen Williams, Michelle Bahar and Jenny Serven took first place on the women's side, while the team of Jeffrey Chu, Kyle Thornton, Dan Piastuck and Ted Freeborn took first for the men.

The Minutemen's Evan Swisher, Jake Hogue, Dylan Smith and Justin Zeimetz earned a University Pool record-breaking first place finish in the 400 medley relay to help UMass over the Seawolves.

Complete results were not available at publication.

Both UMass swimming and diving teams will return to action next Saturday when the Minutemen host Southern Connecticut State in the UMass home opener. The meet is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start and admission is free to all.
