Men Take Third, Women Fourth At Upper Valley Invitational

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrap up day two of the Upper Valley Invitational in the same spots as they did on day one. The Minutemen picked up a total of 654.5 points over the two days finishing behind Dartmouth and Boston University. The women tallied a total of 516.5 and finished behind Dartmouth, BU and Northeastern.
The Minutemen saw a lot of top-10 finishes all around, including four in the 1650-yard freestyle led by Chris Inglis in third at a time of 16:38.20. Behind him was Alessandro Bomprezzi in fourth at a time of 16:40.20, Kyle Vieira in sixth with a time of 16:46.96 and Matt Grippo in ninth with a time of 17:18.01.
Inglis would also go on to a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle finishing with a time of 1:44.92. He owns the Dartmouth pool record in that event with his 1:40.62 finish last year.
Eric Zeimetz picked up the third-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:56.09. He also went on to take eighth in the 100-fly at a time of 52.72.
Jocelyn Yuen once again paced the Minutewomen with two first-place finishes in both the 100- and 200-yard butterfly events. She finished the 100 with a time of 57.39 and the 200 with a time of 2:06.27.
Zoe Judd picked up a third and fourth-place finish in the 200- and 100-yard freestyles, respectively. She finished the 200 with a time of 1:54.58 and the 100 at a time of 53.60. Anna Cavanaugh and Molly Smyth finshed behind Judd in the 200, picking up sixth and ninth-place finishes of their own.
The only other top-5 finish in the pool for the Minutewomen came from Katie Arnott in the 200-yard breaststroke, when she finished third with a time of 2:24.20. She also picked up the sixth-place finish in the 100 breast with a time of 1:07.92.
Both teams will head to Bronx, N.Y. to take on Fordham, next weekend, for their final regular season meet of the 2012-13 campaign. That meet is set to kick-off at 1 p.m.
