Women's Swimming Falls To Central Connecticut State In Dual Meet

AMHERST, Mass. - Central Connecticut State took first-place in 14 events on Monday night as the Blue Devils defeated the University of Massachusetts women's swimming and diving team 159-135 in the final home meet for the Minutewomen.
Jenkins, who was named the Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week following Saturday's dual win performance, won the three-meter dive with her total of 209.17 points. She also finished second in the one-meter dive with 204.75 total points.
Pond picked up her first win as a Minutewoman in the one-meter dive with 205.72 points. She also took second in the three-meter dive with 203.85 points.
Wasson recorded her second-fastest time of the season in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:30.68) as she the event. Wasson also finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.94).
The Minutewomen also picked up a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, the final event of the night, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.
Central Connecticut State jumped out to an early 59-34 lead after the first five events taking first-place finishes in each.
Both the UMass men's and women's swimming and diving teams will return to action on Saturday when the Minutemen head to Fordham to close out the regular season.
