Minutewomen Sink Bryant On Senior Day

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass women's swimming and diving team concluded Saturday afternoon with a 180-119 win over Bryant University. The Minutewomen honored seniors Sarah Cobb, Molly Elkins, Lauren Mark, Amina Meho and Danielle Sekurski prior to the meet. The team now looks ahead to the Upper Valley Invitational next weekend on the campus of Dartmouth College.

The Minutewomen used an all around effort to knock off Bryant who had been 7-2 in dual meets prior to their visit to Amherst.

Katie Arnott once again dominated the breaststroke events taking first in both the 100-yard breast and 200-yard breast with times of 1:06.75 and 2:24.51 in each. Classmate Molly Smyth won both the distance freestyle events, finishing with times of 5:07.81 in the 500 free and 10:18.41 in the 1000-yard free.

UMass showed their depth in the butterfly events going one-two-four in the 200 fly and one-three-four in the 100 fly. Jocelyn Yuen took first in both with times of 2:08.52 and 58.37, respectively. Kaitlyn McKenna finished second in the 200 (2:11.27) and third in the 100 (1:00.83), while Emily Lajoie took fourth in both at 2:12.54 in the 200 and 1:01.38 in the 100.

The Minutewomen closed out the meet with their senior relay, which boasted the four senior swimmers - Cobb, Sekurski, Mark and Meho. The team finished the 200 free relay in second with a time of 1:44.36.

On the boards senior Molly Elkins took second in both the one- and three-meter dives with scores of 251.47 and 252.53, respectively. Michaela Butler was able to win each event pulling in scores of 266.40 and 315.45 in each.
