Sara Plourde Repeats As Louisville Slugger Division I National Player of the Week

Senior pitcher Sara Plourde of Massachusetts has been named as the final Louisville Slugger Division I National Player of the Week of the 2012 season for games played May 7-13. This marks the second time this season and the third time in her career that Plourde has received the honor. She was previously named as the Louisville Slugger Division I National Player of the Week on April 3 of this season and April 5 of last season. MORE

Senior pitcher Sara Plourde of the softball team and the Varsity Four of the rowing team have been named Co-Athletes of the week for their performances this past weekend. UMass Opens NCAA Tournament Against DePaul In Columbia Regional

The Massachusetts softball team will open play in the 2012 NCAA Tournament at the Columbia Regional beginning on Friday, as announced by the NCAA on Sunday night. UMass (38-11) will face DePaul (35-20) in the first round. No. 9 national seed and host Missouri will play Illinois State in the other first round game. All games in the double-elimination event will be played at University Field on the MU campus. MORE
