Merchant Accepts Coaching Position At Minnesota

The University of Minnesota has announced that UMass softball assistant coach Jessica Merchant has accepted an assistant coaching position with the Golden Gophers. Merchant spent four seasons with the Minutewomen, helping lead the team to an Atlantic 10 Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth in each of those seasons. MORE

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-American Teams on Wednesday with UMass pitcher Sara Plourde earning third team honors. The sophomore pitcher from Bristol, Conn. is the 18th All-American in Minutewomen history after leading the nation in wins, strikeouts, and strikeouts per seven innings this season. MORE

Sara Plourde was named the ECAC Pitcher of the Year, while Sarah Reeves (first base) and Katie Bettencourt (outfield) took first team honors and Carly Normandin (outfield) took second team honors.
