Celebration Of Life For Elaine Sortino To Highlight Softball Alumni Weekend

UMass Softball has announced it's fall schedule for 2013, including the updated schedule for the annual Alumni Weekend. The Minutewomen will play a five-game exhibition schedule, with all games taking place at Sortino Field. The fall slate concludes with the Alumni Weekend - featuring the banquet on Friday, Oct. 11, the golf tournament on Saturday, Oct. 12, the Alumni Game on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. - which is highlighted by the Celebration of Life for Elaine Sortino Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Mullins Center.
The Minutewomen will kick off the fall schedule on Saturday, Sept. 21 when it hosts Bryant. A week later, Quinnipiac comes to Amherst for a Sept. 29 doubleheader. The following weekend, UMass will play host to Sacred Heart on Oct. 5 and Boston College on Oct. 6. All games except for the BC contest will be doubleheaders and all dates will begin at Noon.
Alumni Weekend begins on Friday, Oct. 12 with the Annual Softball Banquet. Interim Head Coach Kristi Stefanoni, her staff and friends of the program will use the event as a chance to celebrate and honor the 2013 senior class of Katie Bettencourt, Christine Della Vecchia, Cyndil Matthew and Teea Rogers.
The banquet will be held in the Amherst Room, on the 10th floor of the Campus Center. Cocktails begin at 6:30 p.m. and the dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Tickets to the banquet are $35 per person and reservations can be made by returning the Banquet RSVP Form to:

The weekend continues on Saturday, Oct. 12 with the Annual Golf Scramble at Pine Grove Golf Club in Northampton. The 9:30 a.m. shotgun start, captain-and-crew (scramble), event costs $125 per person and gets you 18 holes of golf, cart, dinner, snacks, gifts, prizes and a tax donation. To participate in the golf outing, fill out the Golf Scramble Entry Form and return it to the softball office at the address above.
The Alumni Game is set to begin at 11 a.m. at Sortino Field. All UMass softball alums are encouraged to take part and the event will be open to the public. The Celebration of Life for Coach Sortino will take place in the Mullins Center at 1 p.m.
