UMass Slugs Seven Home Runs In Sweep Of Rhode Island
Tiffany Meeks hit four-consecutive home runs over two games and Caroline Raymond threw a pair of complete-game shutouts as Massachusetts swept a doubleheader over Rhode Island at the URI Softball Complex Tuesday.

UMass Walks Off With 1-0 Win Over Boston University
Massachusetts centerfielder Christine Della Vecchia picked a very opportune time to deliver her first RBI of the season. The junior went the other way with a single to left that drove in Lindsey Webster with two outs in the seventh for a 1-0 victory over Boston University at the UMass Softball Complex Wednesday.

Scouting UMass
• UMass (13-19, 7-5) is 7-0 at home this season and plays host to rival Rhode Island in a doubleheader on Tuesday. The Minutewomen are hitting .276 on the year to rank third in the A-10. UMass has 24 home runs, 36 doubles and six triples. The team is tied for third in the league with 17 double plays turned.
• Junior Quianna Diaz-Patterson ranks fifth in the league with a .381 avg and is first with a .474 on-base pct. Senior Lindsey Webster is fifth in the A-10 with a .466 OBP and third with eight times being hit by a pitch.

Scouting Rhode Island
• URI (12-30, 5-9) comes into the games after splitting a doubleheader at St. Bonaventure on Saturday. The Rams snapped a seven-game losing skid with their 4-3 win in game 2.
• The Rams are hitting .218 and averaging 2.3 runs per game. In the circle, they have a team earned run average of 4.58 and are yeilding just over five runs per contest.
• URI’s five A-10 wins include triumphs over Dayton, Saint Louis, St. Bonaventure and a sweep of Saint Joseph’s.

Series With Rhode Island
• UMass leads the series 84-13. The series is the most played in school history dating back to the first game in program annals, a 4-1 UMass win in Amherst on April 8, 1976.
• The Minutewomen have won the last 24 in the series. The Rams’ last win came in Kingston in the opening game of the 2002 Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament. UMass has thrown six no-hitters against URI.
• UMass hit seven home runs in a sweep last season at URI. Tiffany Meeks tied an NCAA record with a home run in four-consecutive at-bats, while Caroline Raymond struck out eight Rams and allowewd just three hits in the twinbill.
• Two years ago in Amherst, UMass swept a midweek doubleheader with a 5-4 win and a 9-1 five inning win. Sara Plourde got the win in both games as she struck out a combined 26 batters in the twinbill.

Meeks With History Against URI
• In six career games against Rhode Island, senior Tiffany Meeks is 8-for-16 with six home runs, 10 RBI and three walks.

Strike Out Cancer Coming Wednesday
• Tomorrow will be Strike Out Cancer Day with Boston University coming to Sortino Field for a single game at 5 p.m. Special giveaways and prizes will be available throughout the game as the team pays tribute to former head coach Elaine Sortino.
• UMass will wear new pink jerseys in the game.

A-10 Softball Championship
• The Atlantic 10 Softball Championship will be held at Bahoshy Field in Bronx, N.Y. Fordham will host the event May 7-10.
