Massachusetts Opens Busy Week At Boston College Tuesday

AMHERST, Mass. - Coming off a 3-1 week that saw the Massachusetts softball team improve to 7-1 in its last eight games, the Minutewomen will travel to Boston College on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. contest at Shea Field.

UMass is 9-17 overall but has seen its offense pick up considerably over the past three weeks. Since opening conference play at Dayton on March 22, the squad is hitting.387 with 12 home runs and 37 extra base hits. Seven players are hitting above .340 as well.

The work of the pitching staff has also improved during the stretch as three Minutewomen have combined for six complete games while limiting opponents to s .250 batting avg.

Boston College enters its home opener with a 9-21 record and has gone 1-6 since the game at UMass. The Eagles are hitting .257 as a team and post a 6.52 ERA.

On Thursday, UMass will face Boston University at Sortino Field at 5 p.m. Former UMass associate head coach Kathryn Gleason is in her first season at BU and will be making her first visit back to Western Mass.

Then the Minutewomen will travel south to face Charlotte in a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.
