ST. LOUIS - Tiffany Meeks hit a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth to lift Massachusetts to a 2-0 win over Fordham in the 2012 Atlantic 10 Championship semifinal on the Billiken Sports Complex Friday.

UMass (37-11) advances to Saturday?s championship game where it will face the Fordham-George Washington winner at 2 p.m. Eastern Time.

Kyllie Magill led off the sixth with a single through the right side. She then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Lindsey Webster. Katie Bettencourt walked to set up Meeks' big hit. She took an outside two-strike pitch to right center that scored Magill easily. When the throw home got away from Fordham catcher Gabby Luety, Bettencourt raced home for the second run.

Plourde (35-9) then finished off a solid performance that saw her strikeout four, walk one and scatter two hits. After allowing a leadoff double to start the game, the senior retired 12-consecutive batters and 19 of the next 20.

UMass also got base hits from Cyndil Matthew and Plourde. Matthew extended her hitting streak to nine games and reach base for the 24th-straight game. Shortstop Quianna Diaz-Patterson saw her streak of games reaching base come to an end at 26 games.

Fordham (32-25) got two hits and committed four errors, but only the sixth inning miscue resulted in a run. Jen Mineau (25-14) also struck out four and walked one.
