UMass Completes Season Sweep Of Boston College With 7-4 Win

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Massachusetts scored three runs in the second inning and got a strong outing from Caroline Raymond for a 7-4 win over Boston College at Shea Field Tuesday.
UMass (10-17) finished with 10 hits and seven walks but left 11 runners on base. The Minutewomen had a baserunner in every inning.
Quianna Diaz-Patterson went 3-for-3 with a pair of walks. The five through nine hitters combined for six hits and four RBI. Teea Rogers and Sam Gray each drove in two. Cyndil Matthew and Tiffany Meeks each extended their hitting streaks to 10 games.
Raymond (7-7) tossed her third-consecutive complete game as she struck out four over a career-high 151 pitches.
BC (9-22) had five hits and also left 11 runners on base.
The Minutewomen broke through in the second with three runs on five hits, highlighted by Rogers' two-run single. BC pushed a run across in the bottom of the second to cut the UMass lead to 3-1.
UMass loaded the bases each of the next two innings but managed just three runs, with BC matching them to make the score 6-4 after four frames.
UMass will return home for a contest against Boston University on Thursday evening. First pitch at Sortino Field is scheduled for 5 p.m.
