AMHERST, Mass. -- Thursday's doubleheader between Massachusetts (8-9) and Syracuse (10-9) has been cancelled announced UMass head coach Elaine Sortino Wednesday morning. Field conditions and the forecast for more snow Wednesday night forced the cancellation. The two teams tried to make the games up but a common open date could not be reached. This now marks eight games that UMass has lost already this season due to weather.

Massachusetts will now head off to Ohio to open up its Atlantic 10 Conference season on Saturday. The Minutewomen will play a doubleheader at Dayton beginning at 1:00 p.m. Fans can follow all of the action for both games live via GameTracker.

UMass; home opener is now scheduled for Tuesday, March 29 against Central Connecticut State. The doubleheader at the UMass Softball Complex begins at 2:30 PM.
