Box Score

In the night cap, UMass won 4-3 in nine innings over Ohio State. This was a rematch of the first game of the season at the the Fiesta Bowl Classic in Arizona. UMass won 8-0 in that game.

The Minutewomen were down 1-0 until the sixth inning when Budrewicz drove home Molinari with a single to tie the game. The game then remained tied at one until UMass pushed two runs across in the eighth inning. Puglia had a RBI single in the inning.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Buckeyes tied it up when pinch-hitter Christina Douglas blasted a two-run homer. The Minutewomen went up for good in the top of the ninth. Senior Nicole Wilson (Gaithersburg, Md.) scored on an error after a bunt by Jamie Cahalan (Mesa, Ariz.). Sophomore Jenna Busa (Lexington, Mass.) pitched the first eight innings for UMass and earned the win. Junior Kelli Arnold (Kalama, Wash.) came in and pitched the ninth to get the save.

OSU pitcher Jamee Juarez struck out a season-high 16 batters, one shy of Danielle Henderson's record for a Leadoff Classic game she set in a UMass win over Nicholls State.

The Minutewomen will be in action next weekend, March 6-7, at the FAU Worth Invitational in Boca Raton, Fla. They will take on Notre Dame, Florida Atlantic, North Carolina and Florida International in the two days.
