AMHERST, Mass. - UMass women's soccer senior Vanessa Patry has been named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team, as announced by the A-10 late Wednesday afternoon. This marks the second award Patry has amassed in a week, as she was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team on Thursday, Oct. 30.

Patry's outstanding career came to a close on Sunday vs. Charlotte. Her career-high point total came this season (13), via five goals and three assists. The forward's point production increased from her freshman year (8), to sophomore season (11), and junior year (12), before leading to her senior campaign. The two-time captain tied her career-high of two goals in a game on two occasions in 2008, in the home-opener vs. New Hampshire (Sept. 4) and season-opener vs. St. Bonaventure (Sept. 26).

The Academic All-Conference award marks the fourth-consecutive season a UMass player has earned a spot on the team, previous honorees were: 2005 (Kaelyn Caldwell and Amy Maffucci), 2006 (Caldwell), and 2007 (Caldwell). Last week, Patry was named to the ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-District Second Team, marking the third-straight season a Minutewoman has garnered the award (Caldwell in the last two).

The Minutewomen had a strong 2008 campaign highlighted by a historic home win over Dayton, their first victory over the Flyers since 1998. The team also rode an impressive eight-game home unbeaten streak until it was snapped last Friday vs. Saint Louis. UMass played neck-and-neck with the undefeated A-10 regular season champion Charlotte while topping A-10 Tournament participant St. Bonaventure.
