AMHERST, Mass. - UMass women's soccer sophomore Moa Mattsson has been named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference first team, while also being recognized for her work in the classroom as a member of the Academic All-Conference squad, the A-10 announced on Wednesday. Mattsson is just the fifth Minutewoman in program history to collect All-A-10 accolades in each of her first two seasons, earning a second team selection as a freshman in 2011.
Mattsson, who was selected to the first team as a forward, currently leads UMass in scoring with 27 points on 11 goals and five assists. The converted midfielder, in her first season up front, has started all 19 games for the Minutewomen and ranks 10th in the nation in game-winning goals with five, tied for second in the A-10. Mattsson ranks in the top-five in the conference for goals (t-2nd), points (3rd), points per-game (4th) and goals per-game (t-5th). She is tied for eighth in the A-10 in assists, as well.
Mattsson's 27 points on the year are the most by a Minutewoman since Emma Kurowski, UMass' all-time points leader, recorded 32 as a senior in 1999 on her way to Atlantic 10 Player of the Year recognition. He two-goal game against Duquesne in the regular season finale marked her third four-point match of the season.
Off the field, Mattsson, an Engineering major, maintains a 3.96 grade point average.
