Women's Soccer's Moore Collects Pair Of Weekly Honors
Oct. 21, 2013
AMHERST, Mass. - After scoring all five of the squad's goals last week, UMass women's soccer senior forward Brittany Moore has been selected as the Co-Atlantic 10 Player of the Week and Co-UMass Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
She shares the UMass Athlete of the Week honors with hockey's Steven Iacobellis and the pair will be recognized at the UMass Sports Luncheon this Wednesday, Oct. 23, at noon in the Massachusetts Room, Mullins Center, third floor. This week's luncheon will be the Basketball Tip-Off Luncheon, featuring basketball head coaches Derek Kellogg and Sharon Dawley.
Moore had two multi-goal matches for the Minutewomen in a 1-1-0 week last week for a total of 10 points. Last Friday against Rhode Island, she registered a natural hat trick in the second half to lead UMass to a 3-1 victory over the Rams, the first hat trick by a Minutewoman since Deanna Colarossi logged one vs. Temple in 2010 and just the second for a UMass player since 2002.
Moore followed up the performance by scoring twice as UMass was edged in double overtime on Sunday in a road match at Fordham, 3-2. She now has a team-best 18 points (8g, 2a) through 16 games this fall and a total of 23 points (8g, 7a) in 70 career contests.
