As the UMass women's soccer season progresses, UMassathletics.com will sit down with different members of the team to find out a little bit about them. Sophomore forward Sydney Stoll shares her thoughts this week.

UM: What made you start playing soccer?
SS:
I used to watch my brother playing soccer, and I always wanted to join in and be one of the guys.

UM: How do you feel this year as a sophomore has been different than as a freshman?
SS:
This year as a sophomore happened to be my first pre-season, so I got to experience that. I have much more experience and I understand the play and speed of the game much better than last year.

UM: What was it like to have two goals on your birthday? Could you describe the feeling and what it meant to you?
SS:
It was a great feeling; it made my birthday that much better.

UM: The team is off to another great start. What does the team have to do to keep up the success?
SS:
Continue to take one game at a time and always play with heart. We need to continue to keep scoring, and keep defending as a unit and stick together for each other on and off the field.

UM: What's your favorite sports moment?
SS:
It's hard to choose just one, but it would have to be my senior year of high school. My team played (current UMass teammate) Meghan Gould's high school team in the Eastern Mass Semi Final game. We won 1-0 and moved onto state finals.

UM: In ten years, where do you see yourself?
SS:
Hopefully doing something with sports.

UM: If a prospective Division I collegiate athlete came to you, what advice would you give her/him?

SS: That it's probably the best four years of your life, so do well, and live it with no regrets.

UM: What are your goals for this season? Both on a personal and team level?

SS: Id love for us to make it to A10's and win. I think it would be a great experience, and so far it's looking good.

UM: What do you like to do in your spare time?

SS: I love just being with my friends, playing guitar hero, shopping, and sleeping.

UM: Who's your funniest UMass teammate? Why?

SS: We're all pretty funny people, but if I had to choose it would have to be Kathryn Ruggles. We're pretty much the same person and I just understand her personality and her humor.
