UMass' Emily Cota Named To A-10 Women's Soccer Preseason All-Rookie Team

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass women's soccer freshman Emily Cota has been named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Rookie Team, the conference office announced on Monday. Cota is one of four newcomers who will join the Minutewomen on the pitch this fall.
A goalkeeper from Green Lane, Pa, Cota attended Upper Perkiomen High School, where she enjoyed tremendous success on the soccer field. Named a top-100 recruit by TopDrawerSoccer.com, Cota was a 2008 NSCAA High School All-American, a 2008 ESPN Fall High School Second Team All-American and 2007 NSCAA High School All-Region honoree.
Cota has also competed for the Vincent United club team, the Eastern Pa. Youth Soccer Association ODP state team, and the U.S. Soccer Region I team. In 2008, she led Upper Perkiomen High School to the Pioneer Athletic Conference Championship, the school's first ever PAC-10 Title to break a decade-long string of championships by Owen J. Roberts. She was also a First Team All PAC-10 performer all four years and All-State in 2007 and 2008.
UMass will begin its 2009 schedule with a 7 p.m. match at Holy Cross on Aug. 28.
