PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The University of Massachusetts women's soccer team (4-11-1, 3-7-0 Atlantic10) fell to A-10 rival Temple, 2-1, in double-overtime this afternoon. Senior midfielder Michelle Luttati (Westford, Mass.) scored the game-tying goal with less than a minute left to play. She was assisted by senior defender Erin Muir (Spencerport, N.Y.).

Temple opened up the scoring late in the first half, when Katie Louth put one past UMass sophomore goalkeeper Kristen Rutland (Fayettville, Ga.), in the 43rd minute. She was assisted by Elena Hekimian.

UMass trailed until the final minute of regulation, when Luttati scored to knot the game at one apiece. After one scoreless 10-minute overtime period, the Owls ended the match with a goal by Stephanie Vietry, in the seventh minute of the second overtime.

Rutland and her Temple counterpart, Jackie Mauro, each made 2 saves in the contest. The Minutewomen outshot TU, 14-10 overall, and committed 14 fouls to the Owls' 12. The Minutewomen held the edge in corner kicks as well, 7-4. Temple's record improves to 4-13-1, 2-8-0 in the Atlantic 10.

The Minutewomen will be in action next on Sunday, Nov. 2, as they travel to St. Joseph's for thier final regular season match of the year. With the loss today, the Minutewomen will miss the Atlantic 10 playoffs for the second straight season. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.
