Women's Soccer Falls At St. Bona., 1-0 In 2OT

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Playing its second overtime match in the past three games, the UMass women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 setback at St. Bonaventure on Friday afternoon. With the loss, the Minutewomen fall to 8-9-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the Atlantic 10, while the Bonnies improve to 7-10-1 overall and 4-4-0 in conference play.
St. Bonaventure held a 10-2 shot advantage after one period, but UMass played level with the Bonnies in the second half as each squad had 10 attempts at goal.
However, on St. Bonaventure's 25th shot of the contest, Molly Curry collected a ball flicked over a Minutewoman defender by Stephanie Jenkins and found the back of the net for the only tally of the contest at the 107:37 mark.
UMass ended the afternoon with 13 shots, four of which were turned aside by Kathryn Kerkman en route to the shutout. Senior Emily Cota matched her career high with 12 saves in the loss for the Minutewomen. The Bonnies finished with a 7-5 edge in corner kicks, while fouls were 15-12 against St. Bonaventure.
UMass will be back in action this Sunday, Oct. 28, with its regular season finale at Duquesne at 1 p.m.
