DAYTON, Ohio. - Shannon Kuhl scored the only goal of the game just 4:04 in as Dayton University downed the University of Massachusetts, 1-0, in Atlantic 10 women's soccer action this afternoon.

Kuhl received a pass from Jen Simonetti across the box and headed it in past UMass junior goalkeeper Kelly Nigh (Seattle, Wash.) just 4:04 into the match for the game-winner. It was her third goal of the season.

The Flyers defense held the Minutewomen in check all afternoon, holding them to just five shots and not allowing any scoring chances. Dayton had 27 shots and held the edge in corner kicks, 5-1.

Nigh made five saves for the Minutewomen, while Dayton keeper Stephanie Weisenfeld made two stops.

The Minutewomen are now 2-7 overall and 1-2 in Atlantic 10 play.

Massachusetts returns home for a pair of games next weekend. It hosts La Salle on Friday, Oct. 11 at 3:00 p.m., and Fordham on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 1:00 p.m.
