AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass women's soccer team overcame a one goal deficit to defeat Northeastern, 2-1 in overtime on Sunday afternoon on Rudd Field. Following the win, the Minutewomen are now 3-5-1 on the year, while the Huskies fall to 0-6-3.

After hitting the crossbar in the eighth minute, Northeastern took at 1-0 lead 17:27 into the contest. Shanya Blackwood corralled a though ball from Morgan Hilby and finished the play with a shot into the bottom left corner of the net for her first of the season.

UMass controlled play for the majority of the second half, though, outshooting the Huskies, 5-1 in the period. While Northeastern placed the first attempt on target in the frame, the Minutewomen shifted the momentum with their first shot of the second half finding the back of the net in the 66th minute.

UMass was awarded a free kick along the right sideline near midfield that senior Lauren Skesavage served into the box for classmate Brittany Moore. Moore tapped the ball home inside the far post for her third of the season, leveling the score at 1-1.

Northeastern survived late pressure by UMass in the final two minutes of regulation, forcing overtime.

Then in the 96th minute, sophomore Madison Smith played a ball forward to Megan Burke who chipped a shot over Huskies' goalkeeper Paige Burnett from the top of the 18-yard box for the game winner.

The Minutewomen doubled up Northeastern in shots on the afternoon, 14-7, and led in corner kicks, 4-0. Fouls were 8-4 against UMass.

Danielle Kriscenski had one save in net for the Minutewomen, while Burnett logged five stops for the Huskies.
