NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The UMass women's soccer team topped Central Connecticut, 3-2, on Tuesday afternoon for its first win of the season. Adair Blyler (Charlotte, N.C.), Lindsey Fairweather (Kingston, Mass.) and Jenny Roehrig (Coram, N.Y.) scored for the Minutewomen. Roehrig's goal was the game-winner late in the first half.

UMass jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on the Blue Devils as Blyler scored off a pass from Fairweather just 12:03 into the match. Just over a minute later Fairweather tallied a goal at the 13:24 mark for a 2-0 advantage. Junior Lindsey Belllini (Webster, N.Y.) was credited with an assiat on that goal.

Central Connecticut rallied back for two goals midway though the first half as Jess McCavanaugh and Sophie Hooper scored to deadlock the score at 2-2 with 10:28 left in the first half.

But Roehrig scored her second goal in as many games with five minutes left in the first half to give UMass the lead for good, 3-2.

The Minutewomen move to 1-5 overall while the Blue Devils are now 4-4.

UMass outshot Central Connecticut 20-16 and took seven corner kicks to their four.

In goal, Kristin Walker (Lincoln Park, N.J.) made three saves for UMass.

The Minutewomen finally return home after a four-game road swing, as they host Holy Cross next Monday, Sept. 27 at 3:30 p.m., at Rudd Field.
