Sept. 20, 2012
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Despite placing 11 shots on target, the UMass women's soccer team came up short at Brown on Thursday afternoon, seeing its winning streak snap with a 1-0 setback to the Bears. The Minutewomen are now 4-5-0, while Brown improves to 6-1-0 on the season.
The squads went into the intermission locked up at 0-0 with UMass holding a 13-10 shot advantage.
Then with the second half just underway, the Bears were able to capitalize on a free kick opportunity. From 30 yards out, Diana Ohrt sent a strike past a diving Emily Cota for her first of the season at 50:23.
That was all Brown would need as goalkeepers Amber Bledsoe and MC Barrett teamed up record six and five saves, respectively, each playing one half. Cota finished with seven saves for the Minutewomen.
