WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Senior Katie Ruggles celebrated her birthday on Thursday by giving her team a goal as the UMass women's soccer team came from behind in the second half and earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Hartford. The contest marked the Minutewomen's third straight overtime game and second consecutive tie, moving their record to 0-4-2 on the year, while the Hawks are now 3-3-1.

After winning a 50-50 ball in UMass' end, Hartford was able to convert for the first tally of the game and take a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute. Laura Guigli netted her second of the year for the Hawks, with Breeanna Robinson picking up the assist on the play.

Undeterred, the Minutewomen continued to battle and found the back of the net at 51:28. Ruggles' free kick from the lefthand side deflected off Hartford goalkeeper Lauren Brodeur and into the goal for the equalizer. The goal was Ruggles' second of her career and first of the season.

Freshman Emily Cota played the final 65 minutes in net for UMass, turning aside four shots to earn the draw. Senior Lauren Luckey played the opening half and had four saves, while Brodeur totaled five for the Hawks.
