Sep 8, 2013
DURHAM, N.H. - The UMass women's soccer team capped off a 1-0-1 weekend away from Rudd Field with a 1-0 victory at New Hampshire on Sunday afternoon. Following the win, the Minutewomen improve to 1-3-1, while the Wildcats fall to 1-4-1 on the year.
After an early opportunity for UNH was denied by redshirt freshman Danielle Kriscenski, UMass took a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute. From outside the box on the right wing, senior Brittany Moore boomed a long-range shot over goalkeeper Erica Correa and into the top left corner for her first of her career.
The Minutewomen limited the Wildcats' quality opportunities in the remainder of the contest to one dangerous ball off a corner kick and shot from the top of the box by Anna Deweirdt in the final minute of play.
New Hampshire led in shots, 14-7, and corner kicks, 4-1, on the day. Fouls were 10-7, against UMass.
Kriscenski made five saves in net for the Minutewomen en route to her first collegiate shutout. Correa and Mimi Borkan split time for the Wildcats, logging three stops and one stop, respectively.
UMass will return to action on Friday, Sept 13, when the Minutewomen will travel to Texas to face #24 Texas A&M at 7 p.m.
