PALMER, Mass. - Sophomore Kristen Rutland (Fayetteville, Ga.) made seven saves as the University of Massachusetts women's soccer team and Northeastern played to a 0-0 tie tonight in an exhibition game at Legion Field.

On the other side, Northeastern goalkeeper Cynthia Slowick matched Rutland, making seven saves of her own. UMass out-shot the Huskies, 19-13, and held the edge in corner kicks, 8-3, but were unable to solve Slowick.

The Minutewomen will open up the regular season on Saturday, August 30, with a 7:00 p.m. game against Quinnipiac at Agawam High School.
