UMass women's soccer alumna Sydney Stoll has returned to her alma mater as a volunteer assistant coach and enters her first season on the sideline in 2014. Stoll, a former forward, played for the Minutewomen from 2006-10.
"It was great to coach Sydney and, since she left UMass, has worked in youth soccer at a high level with the Boston Breakers and the Scorpions Soccer Club," said Matz. "She has established a lot of relationships across the country coaching the very best teams in Massachusetts and playing the best teams across the country. Not only is it great to have her back for her knowledge, but it's also a pleasure to have a UMass alum rejoin our family."
"I'm really looking forward to being back here and working with Ed, Courtney and Becca," said Stoll. "It's exciting to be back at UMass."
Stoll appeared in a total of 58 matches over her career, starting 48, including all 19 in 2009 after sitting out the 2008 campaign with an injury. The Dedham, Mass., native compiled 33 career points on 14 goals and five assists, including four game winners.
Stoll posted a career-best 15 points on six goals and three assists over 11 games in 2007. She graduated in 2011 with a degree in Psychology.
